The King has invited all Dutch residents, via the Royal House’s Facebook page, who were born on 27 April, to apply for tickets via http://www.WA50.nl for a chance to join him and his wife Queen Máxima for the celebrations.

After the dinner, and a festive ceremony in Dam Square, the palace will be open to the general public for 50 consecutive hours from Friday evening from 10.00 pm to midnight on Sunday, 30 April, including a special programme focusing on the King’s life in the Netherlands.

Visitors can also apply for e-tickets for free entry at http://www.WA50.nl.

The 150 dinner guests will be chosen by a ballot system.

However, there are some conditions.

  • Must be a Dutch citizen and reside in the Netherlands.
  • Must be 20 years or over, and celebrating a “crown year” anniversary (age can be divided by 5).
  • Applications can be made on behalf of someone who shares their birthday with King Willem-Alexander, such as relatives or friends.

Closing date is on Friday, 3 March 2017.
