History
The New Year’s Address is usually delivered from The Queen’s Drawing Room in Christian IX’s Palace at Amalienborg.
King Christian X gave the first radio broadcast of the New Year’s Address on 1 January 1941, and the Queen’s father Frederik IX’s speech was first televised in 1958.
In 2010, Danmarks Radio broadcasted the Queen’s New Year’s Address worldwide to Danes living overseas.
