King Richard III

Leicester University was awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Archaeology, after discovering the remains of King Richard III buried in a council car park.

Richard III was hastily buried in the Greyfriars Priory after he was killed by Henry Tudor’s army at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485.
