The First Royal Selfie
The first royal selfie was taken one hundred years ago in October 1914, by Russia’s Grand Duchess Anastasia, using a mirror and a Kodak Brownie box camera.
Grand Duchess Anastasia was the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II and Alix of Hesse and by Rhine (Alexandra Feodorovna). She died with her family at the hands of the Bolsheviks during the Russian Revolution in 1918.
Not this one, which was taken at Buckingham Palace on 2 April 2014.
However, Prince Andrew was the first member of the British royal family to actually take one.
Recently, a schoolboy from Yalding persuaded the Prince of Wales to appear in a selfie, whereas actress Joan Collins had failed to do so, a week beforehand.
