NSW Governor David Hurley welcomed the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall to Government House at a reception held in their honour in Sydney on Thursday, 12 November 2015.

The Prince and the Duchess met with representatives of many community organisations and charities, including the Toukley Seniors Citizens Club, and The Australian Stock Horse Society, and thanked them for their service to their local communities and the nation.

Other guests included NSW Premier Mike Baird and his wife, Kerryn, Deputy Premier and Minister for Justice and Police Troy Grant,  and NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione.

Many guests walked down the drive to Government House, as the band was playing before the reception.

Deputy Premier of NSW Troy Grant had welcomed Their Royal Highnesses to the New South Wales Mounted Police earlier that day.

Guests were advised on the correct form of address towards the Prince and the Duchess, prior to their arrival, and were warned “no selfies”!

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall signed the visitors’ book at Government House, prior to the reception.

NSW Governor, His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC and Mrs Linda Hurley accompanied the Prince and the Duchess outside.

A “Welcome to Country” ceremony is delivered by an Elder or another representative of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community as a mark of respect for as a mark of respect to the traditional custodians.

The Governor gave a short speech welcoming the Prince and the Duchess to Sydney.

The Prince and the Duchess visited all the tables to speak briefly with the guests.

Prince Charles, who is also the Patron of The Australian Stock Horse Society spoke to Neville Holz, Jean Gavin and Craig Young who travelled to Sydney to attend the reception.

Mr Holz said he was very impressed with the Prince’s knowledge in rural matters.

However, the Prince and the Duchess left separately after the reception.

Prince Charles attended the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership Roundtable discussion at Admiralty House at Kirribilli.

The Duchess of Cornwall met with the Royal Australian Corps of the Military Police at Victoria Barracks in Paddington.

The Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove hosted a dinner for the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall at Admiralty House.

The Governor and Mrs Hurley later officially farewelled the Prince and the Duchess at Sydney Airport, as they travelled to Western Australia for the final leg of their tour.
