A small crowd of well-wishers greeted the Queen and Prince Philip as they arrived by car at St Mary Magdalene just before 11.00 am.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and members of the Middleton family and Pippa’s finance James Matthews were also present, but Prince George and Princess Charlotte did not accompany their parents.

The Queen has been “up and about” whilst remaining indoors, causing speculation about her health as she has recovered from a severe cold.

Princess Anne had told well-wishers last week that the Queen was “feeling better”.

However, the Queen had received Mr Raymond Wheaton at Sandringham on 3 January where she invested him with the Insignia of a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order.

The Queen wrote to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressing condolences for the nightclub massacre on 1 January, which claimed 39 lives.

The Queen made her last public appearance just before Christmas, as she handed over 25 royal patronages to help ease her workload as she approaches her 91st birthday.

Many people on Right Royal Roundup’s Facebook page have wished Her Majesty a speedy recovery during the past two weeks.
