Mr Trump was sworn in as America’s 45th President by Chief Justice John Roberts on 20 January 2017. He recited the oath of office on two Bibles: one used by former President Abraham Lincoln for his inauguration and a Bible his mother gave him in 1955, after graduating from Sunday School.

Prince Albert II of Monaco and Crown Prince Alexander of Serbia had already sent their messages of congratulations in November last year, following Mr Trump’s victory in the US Federal Elections.
