Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Queen Rania met with the newly-elected President Donald Trump during an official visit to Washington.

He is the first Arab leader to visit since the new administration took over last month.

Their visit, which lasted from Monday, 30 January to Thursday, 2 February 2017, was aimed to strengthen bilateral and economic ties between the United States and Jordan, to promote Jordan’s interests, including investment and creating jobs, and international challenges, especially working together to fight terrorism.

The King and Mr Trump agreed on the importance of providing food and safety for Syrians, and efforts to revive the Palestinian-Israeli peace process.

King Abdullah and Queen Rania attended the National Prayer Breakfast where he gave a speech focusing on “what unites us, not what divides us” and “standing together to get the job done.”

The King said it was a pleasure to greet President Trump at the Breakfast and he was keen to work with the new administration and “our many other friends here in Washington.”

The Royal Couple also met with leaders and members of the US Congress and chairpersons and members of the House of Representatives’ foreign affairs committee.
