King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway are celebrating their 80th birthdays in 2017 with a joint celebration on 9 and 10 May.

King Harald celebrated his 80th birthday on 21 February and Queen Sonja’s will take place on 4 July.

Several events in Oslo on 9 and 10 May will be open to members of the public to celebrate this occasion.

Tuesday 9 May

5:30 pm: Entertainment in front of the Royal Palace.

6:30 pm: King Harald and Queen Sonja and their guests from Europe will gather on the palace balcony.

8:00 pm: Gala dinner at the Royal Palace.

Wednesday 10 May

11:00 am: Guests arrive for lunch on the Royal Yacht Norge.

The royal cortège will drive along Karl Johans gate from the Royal Palace to the Opera House prior to the banquet, which is a gift from the Norwegian government.

7:00: The Government will host a Banquet at the Opera House in honour of King Harald and Queen Sonja to mark their 80th birthdays.
