The Swedish Royal Court has released a new photo to celebrate Prince Carl Philip’s 38th birthday on Saturday, 13 May 2017.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia’s second child, Prince Carl Philip Edmund Bertil, Duke of Värmland, was born on 13 May 1979 at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

He was baptised in the Royal Chapel on 31 August 1979, with Prince Bertil, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, Princess Birgitta and Prince Leopold of Bavaria chosen as his godparents.

The 1979 Act of Succession in Sweden came into effect on 1 January 1980, so Prince Carl Phlip is fourth in line, after his older sister, Crown Princess Victoria, his niece Princess Estelle and little nephew Prince Oscar.

Prince Carl Philip married former model Sofia Hellqvist on 13 June 2015 in the Royal Chapel at the Royal Palace.

Their first child, Prince Alexander was born on 19 April 2016, with another on the way due in September 2017.
