The Danish Royal Court has released three new photos of Princess Isabella of Denmark who celebrates her 11th birthday on Saturday, 21 April 2018.

Her mother Crown Princess Mary took the photos at Gråston Palace in April 2018 as Princess Isabella spent time with her beloved horse, Lancet – her favourite pastime.

Princess Isabella shares her birthday with Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain who related through their common ancestor, Christian IX of Denmark, who was known as the ‘Father-in-law of Europe’.

Christian IX’s daughter Princess Alexandra, married Edward VII, who is Queen Elizabeth’s great-grandmother.

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary’s second child and eldest daughter Princess Isabella, Countess of Monpezat, was born at 4.02 pm on 21 April 2007 at Rigshospitalet, the Copenhagen University Hospital, in Copenhagen.

Princess Isabella was the first girl born into the Danish Royal Family since her great-aunt, Queen Anne-Marie of Greece in 1946.

A 21-gun salute was fired from the Sixtus Battery at Holmen Naval Base in Copenhagen and from Kronborg Castle in Helsingør in North Zealand the following day to mark her birth.

Princess Isabella is third in the line of succession to the Danish throne, following her father Crown Prince Frederik and older brother Prince Christian.

The little princess was christened Isabella Henrietta Ingrid Margrethe on 1 July 2007 at Fredensborg Palace Church. Isabella was named after a former ancestress and queen consort of Denmark Isabella of Austria, her maternal grandmother Henrietta Donaldson, paternal great-grandmother Queen Ingrid and grandmother Queen Margrethe II.

Princess Isabella’s godparents include Queen Mathilde of Belgium and Princess Alexia of Greece and Denmark.

She started school at Tranegårdsskolen in Gentofte, a northern suburb of Copenhagen, on 13 August 2013, joining Prince Christian, who is the first member of the Danish Royal Family to attend a state school.

Princess Isabella was given her own monogram on her 10th birthday last year.
