The Royal Australian Mint, an Official Supporter of the 2018 Invictus Games 2018, has released its first coin with Braille text to commemorate the games celebrating the unconquered spirit of wounded, injured and ill service personnel.

This coloured collectable $1 coin’s unique braille text spells ‘Sydney 18’ and features the image of a wounded competitor, symbolising the healing power of sport to inspire recovery and support rehabilitation.

The coin also combines innovative colour print technology and is available for A$15.00 each.

A $5 fine silver selectively gold-plated coin in a black box, (costing A$150.00) is also available for discerning collectors.

However, both coins are available for a limited time through the Royal Australian Mint’s online shop.

The Royal Australian Mint’s Chief Executive Officer Ross MacDiarmid said the coins were a tribute to the competitors’ courage and resilience, and their families and friends.

A commemorative circulating $2 coin was launched earlier this year in July celebrating the Invictus Games which will be held from 20 to 27 October 2018.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will also visit Melbourne, Dubbo and Fraser Island during their royal tour of Australia.

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary will also be attending the Invictus Games to support the Danish competitors.
