Princess Eugenie of York married her fiance Jack Brooksbank in St George’s Chapel on a rather windy autumn day at Windsor Castle on Friday, 12 October 2018, at 11.00 am.

Many guests held onto their hats as they arrived at the Chapel decorated outside with trees and flowers with an autumn theme. Some were forced to chase their hats which had blown off.

The Queen, Prince Philip and several other members of the British Royal Family, representatives from Princess Eugenie’s charities and other invited guests, including the cream of high society and celebrities, watched the Duke of York proudly escort his daughter down the aisle in the Nave.

The Duchess of Cornwall was noticeably absent as she had a prior engagement in Scotland at Crathie Primary School in Aberdeenshire.

Prince Andrew even helped adjust his daughter’s train as they were accompanied by the young bridesmaids and page boys including Prince George and Princess Charlotte and some of their cousins.

However, Maid of Honour Princess Beatrice sat with her mother instead of being by her sister’s side.

Bridegroom Jack wore his glasses as Princess Eugenie approached, took them off and handed them to his brother (and Best Man) Thomas for safe-keeping.

Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos designed the bride’s dress, which featured a low back which drapes into a flowing full-length train.

Princess Eugenie specifically requested a low back to show scars from surgery when she was 12 to correct scoliosis.

The dress featured a number of motifs woven into a jacquard of silk, cotton and viscose blend: a thistle for Scotland, acknowledging couple’s fondness for Balmoral, a Shamrock for Ireland (the Bride’s maternal family, the Fergusons), the York Rose and ivy representing their home at Kensington Palace.

Queen Elizabeth II lent her granddaughter the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara rather than the York tiara which her mother wore on her wedding day in 1986.

The bride wore a matching diamond and emerald drop earrings, a wedding gift from Jack.

Princess Eugenie’s bouquet included the traditional sprig of myrtle, Lily of the Valley, Stephanotis pips, white spray roses, trailing ivy and hints of baby blue thistles.

The Dean of Windsor Right Reverend David Conner led the service, and after the couple exchanged their vows, with Charles Brooksbank reading from Colossians 3: 12-16 and Princess Beatrice read a passage from The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald.

Andrea Bocelli and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, directed by Carlo Bernini, performed Ave Maria and Panis Angelicas.

The Archbishop of York Most Reverend and Right Honourable John Sentamu said a Blessing for the couple.

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank signed the register, followed by singing the National Anthem and the bride gave a deep curtsy to Queen Elizabeth before they left the Chapel.

The Queen, Prince Philip and Members of the Royal waved as the newlyweds left for a short carriage ride in the Scottish State Coach, pulled by four Windsor Grey horses, through the Windsor Town Centre.

The Bride will be known as Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie, Mrs Brooksbank.
