Norway’s Princess Ingrid Alexandra will be confirmed on Saturday, 31 August 2019, in Oslo.

A statement from the Royal Court says the Princess, who celebrates her 15th birthday on Monday, 21 January, is currently receiving instructions under the direction from Provost Tor Øystein Vaaland and acting Vicar, Karoline Astrup, in the Asker Church congregation.

The confirmation service will be held in the Royal Palace Chapel, led by the Bishop of Oslo, Kari Veiteberg, and the Praeses of the Norwegian Bishops’ Conference, Bishop Helga Haugland Byfuglien.

Asker Church

Asker Church (or Asker Kirke) is not far from the Crown Prince Family residence at Skaugum, about 19 kilometres (12 miles) southwest of Oslo and has previous connections with the Royal Family.

King Harald’s eldest sister Princess Ragnhild married her husband Erling Lorentzen at Asker Church in 1953.

A statue of King Harald’s mother, Crown Princess Märtha, designed by sculptor Dyre Vaa in 1957, stands outside the front of the church.

Royal Christening

The eldest daughter of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Ingrid Alexandra was born at 9.13 am (local time) at the Oslo University Hospital on 21 January 2004.

Bishop Gunnar Stålsette christened the infant princess on Saturday, 17 April 2004, with her grandfather King Harald V of Norway, her paternal aunt Princess Märtha Louise, Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, Crown Princess Victoria, The Prince of Asturias (now Felipe VI of Spain) and her maternal grandmother Ms Marit Tjessem as godparents.
