The announcement appeared on social media, including Instagram and Twitter, and on an ornate gold easel in the forecourt at the Palace.

According to the statement, the Duchess and the baby are doing well.

The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news.

The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage.

The baby weighs 7 pounds and 3 ounces (3.2602 kilograms).

The Duke of Sussex was present during the birth.

According to Debrett’s, as the eldest son of a Duke, the baby is entitled to use one of his father’s subsidiary titles, most likely to be the Earl of Dumbarton, rather than as a prince.
