The Queen, at 94, is said to enjoy riding as a form of exercise as well as walking her dogs.

Her Majesty has enjoyed riding since childhood and was given her first horse: a shetland pony named Peggy when she was four and was already an accomplished rider at 18.

She is closely involved with the welfare of her horses with breeding, riding and racing for many years.

Queen Elizabeth has also ridden horses during the Trooping The Colour parades from 1947, on her father King George VI’s behalf, and during her reign until 1986.
