Norway’s Crown Princess celebrates her 47th birthday on Wednesday, 19 August 2020.

According to Norway Today, Crown Princess Mette-Marit will be having a private, low-key celebration at home, courtesy of the coronavirus pandemic.

Mette-Marit Tjessem Høiby was born in Kristiansand, in southern Norway, on 19 August 1973.

She married Crown Prince Haakon in Oslo Cathedral on 25 August 2001 in the presence of many European Royal Families and the Earl and Countess of Wessex representing Queen Elizabeth II.

The Crown Prince couple has two children, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Princess Sverre Magnus.

Literature Train

Crown Princess Mette-Marit has participated in the Literature Train nearly every year since 2014 to share her love of books and readings, coinciding with literary festivals and author talks.

In 2017, the Crown Princess was appointed as an ambassador for Norwegian Literature overseas, including the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2019.

The Crown Princess was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2018, which causes scarring in lung tissue, leading to serious breathing problems.
