King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia marked the Fourth Advent Sunday on 20 December 2020 with a video greeting.
The Royal Couple recorded their message in the Stensalen (Stone Hall) at their residence at Drottningholm Palace.
Queen Silvia reads Margareta Melin’s poem, Adventsbön (Advent Prayer)
A little Advent calendar and three home-made Father Christmas figures sit on the small table in front of the Royal Couple.
King Carl Gustaf then lights the four candles in the little Advent candle holder, made by Crown Princess Victoria when she was a child.
The Crown Princess, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine made the Father Christmas figures when they were younger.

English Translation
King Carl XVI Gustaf:
The Queen and I wish you welcome to the Stone Hall on Drottningholm, where we usually celebrate Christmas. And I know that the Queen would very much like to read a poem.
Queen Silvia:
Yes please.
Of course, it’s about Advent.
We light the Advent candles one by one,
a fervent prayer for truth and justice.
The first thing that should shine deep inside me,
preserve my heart and warm my mind.
The second should shine for everyone I know,
that everyone has a place and can live as friends.
The third should shine for all who suffer,
who fights and dreams of happy times.
The fourth should shine for the ground and the forest,
for air and for sea and our future on earth.
We light the Advent candles one by one,
a fervent prayer for truth and justice.
This beautiful Advent prayer is written by Margareta Melin.
King Carl Gustaf:
Then we would also like to light the candles.
And with that, we would like to wish you all a pleasant fourth Advent.
