Queen Sonja of Norway celebrates her 84th Birthday on Sunday, 4 July 2021

According to Norway Today, Queen Sonja will be celebrating her birthday in a private celebration.
Queen Sonja was born in Oslo on 4 July 1937 – the youngest child of Karl August Haraldsen and his wife Dagny Ulrichsen.
She first met Crown Prince Harald at a dinner party in 1959 but they had to wait for nine years until King Olav V granted permission, as he was reluctant to see his only son and heir marry a commoner
They married at Oslo Cathedral on 29 August 1968, with King Olav giving the bride away, as her father had passed away in 1959.
About 850 guests attended the wedding ceremony, with festivities continuing for three days.
The couple has two children: Princess Märtha Louise (born 22 September 1971), and Crown Prince Haakon (born 20 July 1973).
King Olav died in 1991 and his son ascended the throne as Harald V, with his wife Sonja as the first queen consort in 53 years.
Both King Harald and Queen Sonja celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2018 and 30 years since they were consecrated as Norway’s monarchs on 23 June 1991.
