The heirs to the Swedish and Norwegian thrones regularly keep in touch with each other.

Crown Princess Victoria and her family appreciated spending time with their Norwegian relatives and the opportunity to show them this unique part of Sweden during the last days of summer.

The Swedish and Norwegian royal families are descended from two of Britain’s Queen Victoria’s sons.

King Carl XVI Gustaf is the great-grandson of Prince Leopold whilst King Harald V’s is King Edward VII’s great-grandson through his daughter, Princess Maud of Wales, who married King Haakon VII of Norway.

Gotland is Sweden’s largest island in the Baltic Sea, with its main town Visby dating back to the Viking era and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
