The Duke of Gloucester will attend the Dawn Service in the New Zealand Memorial at Hyde Park Corner which runs for 45 minutes and includes readings, the Last Post, silence and reveille and the national anthems.

The service ends with the laying of wreaths.

Later that morning, Prince William Duke of Cambridge will attend the Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Cenotaph at Whitehall as well as the Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey.

The Duke of Cambridge will lay a wreath at the Cenotaph on Queen Elizabeth’s behalf followed by a march with 300 to 400 participants, including veterans’ association members, service and ex-service personnel and their families.

The Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey is a traditional church service with an Address from David Hoyle, the Dean of Westminster, readings from the Australian and New Zealand High Commissioners, George Brandis and Bede Corry, and London-based Ngāti Rānana performing a Māori waiata (song).

King George V attended the first service at Westminster Abbey in 1916 to mark the anniversary of the landings at Gallipoli so ANZAC Day has been observed in London ever since.

The services have been an important moment to commemorate the Australians and New Zealanders who gave their lives during times of war and acknowledge all those who have served their countries.

ANZAC Day is a public holiday in both Australia and New Zealand with commemoration services held nationwide.

Both ANZAC Day commemorations are organised by the Australian and New Zealand High Commissions.
