Radboud Winkels, dean of the programme: ‘We teach students to work together and to look at subjects from different angles. The corona crisis, for example, was not just about health, but also about the interests of entrepreneurs, loneliness and about fundamental rights. All these disciplines are dealt with together in PPLE.’

The Princess will join about 220 students during her first year.

However, the Princess of Orange will live in rented accommodation with fellow students but her time at university is considered private and will be off-limits to the media.

The University of Amsterdam also issued a statement saying they were proud that Princess Catharina-Amalia ‘has opted to follow this challenging and versatile study programme.’

‘We wish her, and all the other first years, a lot of fun and success in their education.’
