The Dutch Royal Family are visiting Rotterdam on Thursday, 27 April 2023, for Koningsdag.
King Willem-Alexander celebrates his 56th birthday and the 10th anniversary of his accession to the throne on Koningsdag (King’s Day) so Rotterdam is hosting a massive party with on-stage performances by well-known Dutch performers throughout the day.
Rotterdam’s different cultures, art, architecture and history are on display, with a focus on the future.
The Royal Family will begin their walk at 11.00 am in Afrikaanderwijk in Rotterdam-South through the Pretorialaan to the Maashaven.
Then King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima, Princess Amalia and Princess Ariane will board a water taxi to cross the Nieuwe Maas to the Leuvehaven.
From Plein 1940 (at the Statue of the Destroyed City) they resume walking via the Blaak, straight through the Markthal to the Binnenrotte where the King’s Day Festival is held.
The Royal Family say goodbye to the Rotterdam public before leaving.
Princess Alexia was unable to attend due to exams.
