Prince Nicolas of Sweden celebrated his 3rd Birthday on Friday, 15 June 2018, as the Swedish Royal Court releases a new photo to mark the occasion.
He is the second child and only son of Princess Madeline and Christopher O’Neill and is now ninth in the line of succession.
Two days after his uncle Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist married in 2015, Prince Nicolas Paul Gustaf arrived at 1.45 pm at Danderyd Hospital in Stockholm.
His birth was marked with a 21-gun salute from Skeppsholmen and also in Gothenburg, Härnösand, Karlskrona and Boden.
King Carl XVI Gustaf bestowed the title of Duke of Ångermanland two days after Prince Nicolas’ birth.
Prince Nicolas was christened on 11 October 2015 in the Royal Chapel at Drottningholm Palace, which SVT broadcasted live on television.
His godparents are his maternal uncle, his paternal aunt Natscha Abensberg un Traun, his paternal uncle Henry d’Abo, his mother’s paternal cousin, Gustaf Magnuson and his parents’ friends Katarina von Horn and Marco Wajsefisz.
Prince Nicolas has an older sister, Leonore, aged 4, and a younger sister, Adrienne who was born on 9 March 2018.
It has been a very busy week for the Swedish Royal Family as Princess Adrienne was christened on Friday, 8 June, and Princess Madeleine celebrated her 36th birthday on 10 June.
