Queen Elizabeth II has released a statement following the Royal Family summit at Sandringham on Monday, 13 January 2020.

Following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s shock announcement to liv a more ‘independent life’, The Queen summoned a meeting with the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge, Prince Harry with Meghan phoning in from Canada.

Reports claim many have called for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to be stripped off their HRH status, to move out of Frogmore Cottage and they should pay the money back following the recent renovations.

Questions have been raised about who pays for Harry and Meghan’s security.

Brendan O’Neill from Spiked dubbed the Duchess ‘a woke Wallis Simpson‘.

Many calling her Yoko Ono, with a meme appearing on social media, for allegedly causing splits within the Royal Family.

The Queen would have preferred for Harry and Meghan to remain as full-time members of the Royal Familiy but she said she understands their wish to live a more independent life.

Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family.

My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family. Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.

Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives.

It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK.

These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.
