Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako have accepted Queen Elizabeth II’s invitation to pay a state visit during Spring 2020.

The Emperor and the Empress will stay at Windsor Castle.

Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress (Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako) will stay at Windsor Castle.

  • Emperor Showa (Hirohito) and Empress Kojun (Nagako) in October 1971
  • Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko in May 1998
  • Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko in May 2007 for a three-day visit

The Emeritus Emperor Akihito attended a lunch for sovereign monarchs at Windsor Castle to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.
