No doubt Prince Carl Philip will be spending the day with his family, celebrating in private at home.
King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia’s second child and only son, Carl Philip Edmund Bertil, Duke of Värmland, was born in 1979 at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
He was baptised in the Palace Chapel on 31 August 1979, with Prince Bertil, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, Princess Birgitta and Prince Leopold of Bavaria as godparents.
For seven months, Prince Carl Philip was the heir-apparent for seven months until 1 January 1980 when the laws of succession changed to allow the first-born child to succeed to the Swedish throne.
Prince Carl Philip was bumped down to second place at the time.
At the moment, he is currently fourth in the line of succession, following his older sister Crown Princess Victoria and her two children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar.
Prince Carl was educated in Sweden and the United States, during his school years, including a science programme at Lundsberg upper secondary school.
Further studies included graphic design in Stockholm and the Rhode Island School of Design from 2006 and 2007, and Agricultural and Rural Management at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Alnarp. He graduated with a diploma in January 2012.
He has struggled with dyslexia during his life, like his father King Carl Gustaf and his older sister Victoria.
Prince Carl Philip also completed his military service in the Amphibious Battalion at Vaxholm Coastal Artillery Regiment in 2000, before completing a Naval Officer training course.
Prince Carl Philip has been a scout and is fond of the outdoors. He is a keen sportsman and athlete, especially with football, swimming sailing and skiing. He also enjoys participating in car racing including the Porshe Carrera Cup Scandinavia and the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship.
