The Royal Court of Norway has announced King Harald was admitted to hospital on Friday, 29 January 2021.

King Harald will have surgery at Rikshospitalet on Saturday morning, 30 January, for an operation on an injured tendon over his right knee.

Crown Prince Haakon will continue to act as Regent as King Harald’s sick leave has been extended to Sunday, 14 February.

The Crown Prince will carry out his father’s constitutional duties in the meantime.
