Ahead of her 18th Birthday on Friday, Princess Ingrid Alexandra will visit the Storting, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Supreme Court on Thursday, 20 July 2022.

The Princess will gain insight into how the Norwegian constitution, the government and the judicial system works, upon her coming of age, as she prepares for her future role as Queen.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra is currently second in the line of succession, following her father Crown Prince Haakon.

Unlike Australia, Britain, Canada, or New Zealand, Norway’s Parliament (Storting) is unicameral – a single legislative or parliamentary chamber.

  • 10.00 am – Storting President Masud Gharahkhani will brief Princess Ingrid Alexandra on the National Assembly when she visits the Storting.
  • 11.15 am – Princess Ingrid Alexandra visits the Supreme Court and Supreme Court Justice Toril Marie Øie will provide details about the court’s activities.
  • 12.30 pm – Princess Ingrid Alexandra meets the new Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and government representatives from the Prime Minister’s office. The Princess will learn more about the government and the ministries and their work.

On Friday, 22 January, Princess Ingrid Alexandra will receive representatives from the Norwegian government on her 18th birthday at the Royal Palace in Oslo.
