King Carl XVI Gustaf’s 76th birthday celebrations will resume in the Royal Palace’s Outer Courtyard on Saturday, 30 April 2022.

The programme commences with the Navy’s music corp band performing as they march in at 11.15 am.

At 11.40 am The Army Music Corp follows behind as it marches in, performing a musical programme as King Carl Gustaf comes through the West Gate five minutes later to receive the Main Guard’s commander.

A 21-gun salute is fired from nearby Skeppsholmen at 12.00 noon.

King Carl Gustaf then comes out in the Outer Courtyard at 12.18 pm with the Changing of the Guard.

Children are given the opportunity to present flowers.

The Royal Apartments will open to the public at 2.00 pm following the celebrations.

Wellwishers to the Royal Palace can write their birthday greetings in the Hall of State between 1.00 pm and 4.00 pm, after entering through the South Gate.

Those unable to attend in person can post their greetings on the Swedish Royal Family’s official Facebook account – Kungahuset.
