Thousands turned out to participate in Platinum Jubilee celebrations in London, including Trooping the Colour, a Thanksgiving Service at St Paul’s Cathedral, the star-studded Platinum Party at the Palace and the The Platinum Jubilee Pageant.

Queen Elizabeth lit the Principal Beacon during a special ceremony at Windsor Castle on Thursday, 2 Juine, setting off a chain of light, with the Duke of Cambridge watching The Tree of Trees (a ‘tree’ constructed from 350 smaller trees standing about 21 metres high) light up outside Buckingham Palace.

Over 1,500 were lit across the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, continuing the long tradition of celebrating Royal Jubilees, Weddings and Coronations with a chain of lights across the nation.

Australia’s new Prime Minister Anthony Albanese lit the beacon in Canberra as he was joined other Commonwealth leaders in lighting beacons in their capital cities.

Millions participated in Big Jubilee Lunches across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth to share some fun, food and friendship, from huge street parties to small backyard barbecues and everything in between.

‘Been Humbled and Deeply Touched’

When it comes to how to mark seventy years as your Queen, there is no guidebook to follow. It really is a first. But I have been humbled and deeply touched that so many people have taken to the streets to celebrate my Platinum Jubilee.

While I may not have attended every event in person, my heard has been with you all’ and I remain committed to serving you to the best of my ability, supported by my family.

I have been inspired by the kindness, joy and kinship that has been so evident in recent days, and I hope this renewed sense of togetherness will be felt for many years to come.

I thank you most sincerely for your good wishes and for the part you have all played in these happy celebrations.
