Prince Harry returns home from New Zealand, wants the government to bring back National Service, and attends the Chelsea Flower Show. The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall visit Ireland including Mullaghmore where an IRA bomb killed Lord Mountbatten in 1979. Plans are already underway to plan a big birthday extravaganza for Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday in 2016.

Prince Charles and Camilla’s visit to Ireland also included Mullaghmore in County Sligo to pay their respects, where Lord Mountbatten was killed by an IRA bomb whilst on holiday in 1979. Lord Mountbatten’s grandson, Timothy Knatchbull, who survived the bomb blast, accompanied the royal couple.

Lord Mountbatten, known to the royal family as “Uncle Dickie”, was Prince Charles’ great-uncle and mentor who served with distinction within the Royal Navy. He was also the last Viceroy of India.
