A delightful new children’s book has been published to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th Birthday.
The Birthday Crown, written by children’s author Davide Cali, opens with the Master of Ceremonies overseeing the preparations at Buckingham Palace, as the Queen searches for the perfect crown to wear on her birthday.
We hope that children and adults alike will enjoy Davide Cali’s charming story about a very special birthday, brought to life through Kate Slater’s highly original collage illustrations.
According to sources, the Queen gave her approval for the publication of this lovely 32-page story in hardback.
Kate Slater’s charming illustrations bring the story and the cast of characters to life, using a three-dimensional collage technique.
The Queen receives suggestions from the royal jewellers, gardeners, stables, and many others including a fruit headpiece (à la Carmen Miranda), a disco ball and a fairground carousel.
Finally, the Queen’s grandson finally comes up with the final solution.
Jacky Colliss Harvey, Publisher for the Royal Collection Trust, said, “We hope that children and adults alike will enjoy Davide Cali’s charming story about a very special birthday, brought to life through Kate Slater’s highly original collage illustrations.”
The Birthday Crown will be available from the Royal Collection Trust shops in London and Edinburgh for £9.95, and good British bookshops for £12.95, from 12 April 2016.
Available for pre-order through The Book Depository for overseas orders.
