The Swedish Royal Court has announced Princess Adrienne’s christening will be held in the Royal Chapel at Drottningholm Palace on Friday, 8 June 2018.

Princess Adrienne’s christening will occur on the same day as her parents’ 5th wedding anniversary and exactly four years following her older sister Leonore’s baptism in 2014.

The little princess will be baptised with water from a spring on Öland whilst wearing the same gown worn by her mother and her cousins at their christenings.

The christening gown was first worn by her great-grandfather, Prince Gustaf Adolf, in 1906 and his three younger brothers and sister, Princess Ingrid (who later married Frederik IX of Denmark) and has been worn by royal babies ever since.

A cape with a hood of cream-coloured side satin was added for Princess Margareta’s baptism in 1935. Every royal baby’s name and the dates of their christenings are sewn into the capel’s lining.

The Most Reverend Archbishop Dr Antje Jackelén, assisted by The Right Reverend Bishop and Chief Court Chaplain Dr Johan Dalman, and The Reverend, Court Chaplain and Rector of the Royal Court Parish Michael Bjerkhagen will conduct the service.

The Royal Family and their invited guests, including relatives, friends, representatives from the Riksdag (Parliament) and other government officials will attend a reception, with a private lunch afterwards.

Princess Adrienne Josephine Alice was born on 9 March 2018 at Danderyd Hospital with proud grandfather King Carl Gustaf granting the Duchy of Blekinge on Monday, 12 March.

She has an older sister, Leonore, and brother, Nicolas.
