Serbia’s Prince Philip and Prince Alexander are celebrating their 37th birthday on 15 January 2019, with their family and close friends in Belgrade.

Fraternal twins Prince Philip and Prince Alexander were born in Fairfax, Virginia, in the United States.

They are the second and third sons of Crown Prince Alexander Karadordević and his first wife Princess Maria da Gloria of Orleans Bragança.

Their godparents are King Constantine II of Greece, Queen Sofia of Spain and the Duchess of Calabria.

Both attended kindergarten in Seville, Spain, and in London, before attending a top preparatory school in 1990, aged eight.

They spent their high school years at The King’s School, Canterbury, completing Sixth Form in June 2000, with princes both obtaining three A Levels.

However, Prince Philip graduated from University College London with a Bachelor of Arts degree and now works for a foreign financial institution in London.

Prince Alexander attended the University of San Francisco (USF) and graduated with a Communication Studies degree, majoring in Public Relations and Journalism. He completed further studies with a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Advertising and currently works in digital publishing in California.

The Royal Family took up residence in the Royal Palace in Belgrade on 17 July 2001.

Prince Philip married Danica Marinković on 7 October 2017 at the Cathedral Church of Saint Michael the Archangel in Belgrade, with Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and the grooms older brother, Peter Hereditary Prince of Yugoslavia as witnesses.

His godmothers, Queen Sofia of Spain and the Duchess of Calabria attended the wedding.

Their son, Prince Stefan, was born in Belgrade on 25 February 2018 at 10.30 am (local time) – the first male child to be born to the Royal Family in Serbia since 1928.

So far, Prince Alexander remains single.

Line of Succession

Prince Philip is second in the line of succession in Serbia, following his older brother, Hereditary Prince Peter, whilst Prince Alexander was bumped down to fourth place, following the birth of his nephew, Prince Stefan.

Both princes are in the Line of Succession to the British throne, as they are descendants of Queen Victoria through her second son Prince Alfred and his granddaughter, Maria of Romania, who married Alexander I of Yugoslavia in 1922.

However, their father lost his place in the line of succession as he married a Roman Catholic prior to 2015.
