Members of Europe’s Royal Families surprised Queen Margrethe with a video greeting on 16 April 2020 for her 80th birthday.

King Carl XVI Gustav and Queen Silvia of Sweden, King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium and King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands sent their greeting as they were unable to travel to Denmark this year due to the coronavirus.

Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Therese of Luxembourg, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, with Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar, and Prince Carl Philip also add their video messages.

Queen Margrethe Address

Queen Margrethe, as part of her 80th birthday celebrations, will address the people of Denmark at 7.00 pm (local time).

Danish networks DR and TV2 will broadcast Queen Margrethe’s speech live from Fredensborg Palace.
