Denmark will celebrate Queen Margrethe’s Golden Jubilee with numerous events during the middle of January 2022, including the Royal Family, government officials and many foreign guests.

Queen Margrethe will share details about her life and work during interviews, TV documentaries and books, with some events to be broadcast live on local TV stations, including TV2.

Monday, 10 January

Queen Margrethe will hold a press conference at Amalienborg in Copenhagen.

Thursday, 13 January

Her Majesty will open the exhibition, ‘A Queen’s Jewel Case’, at The Royal Danish Collection in the Amalienborg Museum.

Friday, 14 January

Queen Margrethe and Crown Prince Frederik will begin with a Council of State meeting at Christiansborg Palace.

The Crown Prince Couple, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie will join Queen Margrethe in the Danish Parliament’s Jubilee celebrations.

A wreath-laying ceremony will be held for Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid’s graves at Roskilde Cathedral to mark the 50th Anniversary of the King’s passing on 14 January 1972.

Saturday, 15 January

Queen Margrethe and the Royal Family appear on the balcony of Christian IX’s Palace at Amalienborg coinciding with the Changing of the Guard at 12:00 noon.

Later that day, Queen Margrethe rides in a carriage to Copenhagen’s City Hall, for more celebrations including an official luncheon, followed by an appearance on the City Hall’s balcony.

In the evening, the Guard Hussar Regiment’s Mounted Squadron will company Queen Margrethe in her coach to attend a royal command performance at the Old Stage of the Royal Danish Theatre.

Danish network DR will broadcast the event.

Sunday, 16 January

Sunday starts with a celebratory church service at the Church of Our Lady (Copenhagen Cathedral).

That evening, Queen Margrethe hosts a gala dinner at Christiansborg Palace with the Royal Family, foreign guests and representatives from the Danish government.

TV 2 will broadcast from the gala dinner.
