Elizabeth II has become the oldest and longest-serving monarch in British and Australian history, as well as the world’s longest-reigning queen.

The commemorative 50c coin depicts the Golden Wattle, Australia’s national floral emblem, and Queen Elizabeth’s favourite flower, Lily of the Vally, to highlight the connection between Her Majesty and the Australian people.

The St Edward’s Crown sits above Queen Elizabeth’s Royal Cypher in the centre, with 70 additional crowns fanning out – one year for Her Majesty’s reign.

The design was inspired by the 1977 Silver Jubilee coin, designed by Stuart Devlin.

The Uncirculated 50c coin and Fine Silver Proof coin will be available from 5 May from the Royal Australian Mint’s eShop or contacting 1300 652 020, including orders from overseas.
