The Office of the Marshall of the Realm, Fredrik Wersäll, issued a statement later that day announcing the good news, and added ‘Both mother and child are in good health.’

Prince Carl Philip was present at Danderyd Hospital throughout the birth.

The little prince weighed 3.220 kilograms (about 7 pounds 1 ounce) and is 49 centimetres (19 inches) in length.

We are so happy and grateful to be able to welcome our third son to our family, Princess Sofia and I, and his two big brothers, have all been longing for this day. And now we are looking forward to getting to know this new little member of our family.
