According to the Royal Court of Denmark, number 560 started at 9.30 am, but this one was different than usual, due to the current COVID-19 restrictions.

Only Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and four ministers participated so plans for the usual procedures didn’t go ahead.

Instead, the meeting began with Queen Margrethe’s speech as she remembered her first Council of State meeting on 15 January 1972, which was held the day after her accession.

Queen Margrethe thanked both past and present governments for good and respectful cooperation during the past 50 years.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen gave a speech and, on the government’s behalf, congratulated Queen Margrethe for the past 50 years as Denmark’s sovereign.
