Prince Carl Philip Edmund Bertil, Duke of Värmland, was born in 1979 at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

He married Sofia Hellqvist at the Royal Chapel at the Royal Palace on Saturday, 13 June 2015, surrounded by family and friends.

They have three sons, Prince Alexander (born 19 April 2016) and Prince Gabriel (born 31 August 2017) and Prince Julian (born 26 March 2021).
